It amplifies line-level signals with absolute purity using a single Class-A gain stage and no solid-state components in the signal path. Built around a pair of 6H30 tubes, the LS-2 prioritizes transparency, tonal richness, and dynamic stability. It integrates seamlessly into everything from reference-grade separates to stripped-down vinyl rigs, delivering uncolored signal flow with hands-on control and elegant versatility.

Audio Research LS-2 Key Features

Tubes: Dual 6H30 triodes in a single Class-A gain stage

Topology: Cathode follower design with no solid-state devices in the signal path

Touchscreen Interface: Balance, input labeling, and color display control

Inputs: 4 single-ended (RCA) and 2 balanced (XLR) line-level inputs

Metal Remote Control: New machined metal remote with system functions

Optional Phono Card: MM/MC user-installable module (42dB / 62dB gain)

Optional DAC Card: USB, Coax, and Optical input module (installs in seconds)

Construction: Hand-built in Minnesota with classic ARC styling

Pure Class-A Tube Preamplifier Performance

At the heart of the LS-2 is a pair of 6H30 tubes operating in a single gain stage with no feedback. The signal path is completely free of solid-state devices, allowing for natural tonal development and effortless dynamics. A constant current cathode bias maintains performance consistency and keeps the tube circuit operating in its optimal range. For listeners who value imaging, control, and harmonic texture, this design offers remarkable musical integrity without the need for complexity.

Streamlined Connectivity with Expandable Options

The LS-2 supports a range of source gear with four RCA inputs and two balanced XLRs. It's easy to integrate into a high-end stack or a more compact setup. The optional DAC card adds USB, coaxial, and optical digital inputs, while the MM/MC phono module brings analog flexibility to the front end. Both modules are user-installable and require no special tools or setup procedures. That flexibility makes the LS-2 one of the most adaptable tube preamps in the Audio Research lineup.

Touchscreen Control Meets Classic ARC Design

Modern conveniences meet traditional build quality in the LS-2.
