Recognizing that many modern amplifiers and DACs already possess high-quality digital-to-analogue conversion, the CXC removes the internal DAC to focus entirely on the disc drive mechanism. This "transport-only" approach, powered by Cambridge Audio's renowned S3 Servo technology, ensures error-free data retrieval and incredibly low jitter, breathing new life into your CD collection.

KEY FEATURES

Dedicated Transport: Designed purely for reading CDs, removing onboard DACs to minimize interference and maximize signal quality.

S3 Servo Drive: Renowned proprietary motor speed control ensures precise disc rotation and flawless data retrieval.

Digital Outputs: Features both S/PDIF Coaxial and TOSLINK Optical outputs for connection to any external DAC or digital amplifier.

Acoustically Dampened Chassis: All-metal construction isolates the mechanism from external vibration for skip-free performance.

Gapless Playback: Perfect for listening to live concert recordings and classical pieces without interruption.

System Synergy: Aesthetically and technically matched to pair perfectly with the CXA61 and CXA81 amplifiers.

PURE PURPOSE PERFORMANCE

The CXC is built on the philosophy that doing one thing perfectly is better than doing many things adequately. By removing the digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) found in standard CD players, Cambridge Audio eliminates the noise and interference that can degrade the delicate digital signal. This allows the CXC to focus solely on reading the information on the disc and passing it on to your external DAC or digital amplifier in its purest form, resulting in a sound that is cleaner, clearer, and more detailed.

PRECISION DRIVING

At the heart of the CXC is Cambridge Audio's legendary S3 Servo design. Originally developed for the flagship 851C CD player, this advanced technology controls the speed of the disc drive with incredible accuracy. It ensures that the disc spins at exactly the right rate for the laser to retrieve data without errors, virtually eliminating "jitter" (digital timing errors) and the need for excessive error correction. This precision means you hear the music exactly as it was recorded.

BUILT TO LAST

The CXC's chassis is not just about looks; it's an essential part of the performance. The acoustically dampened, low-resonance metal case isolates the spinning mechanism from external vibrations, such as those from loudspeakers. This stability allows the S3 Servo to do its job without interference, ensuring a smooth and consistent data stream. Finished in Lunar Grey, the floating design and brushed aluminium faceplate make the CXC a stylish and timeless addition to any hi-fi rack.

The Listening Room Difference

We’re a third-generation family business with a brick-and-mortar showroom in Chestertown, Maryland, and a reputation built on trust, not hype.
