matrix-audio-ss-1-audio-grade-network-switch
Matrix Audio SS-1 Audio Grade Network Switch

The Matrix Audio SS-1 is an audio-grade network switch that provides the essential foundation for superior music streaming. Purpose-built for Hi-Fi systems, the SS-1 elevates the performance of your network audio by addressing the critical issues of electrical noise and data timing that are overlooked by standard IT hardware. It provides a clean, stable, and isolated network environment, ensuring that the data delivered to your streamer is pristine and uncompromised. For the music lover looking to take a significant step up in streaming quality, the SS-1 is the perfect entry point into a world of clearer, more detailed, and engaging digital audio.

This is part of the wider Matrix N-Series system. The SS-1 solves this problem with its dual 10Gbps SFP+ optical ports. By using an inexpensive fiber optic connection between your router and the SS-1, you create a galvanic break that completely blocks noise from entering your audio system. This ensures the data signal is delivered in a pristine electrical environment, allowing you to hear more of the music and less of the noise floor.

Precision Data Timing

Accurate timing is fundamental to digital audio. The SS-1 is equipped with an ultra-low phase noise femtosecond clock that governs the entire internal data switching process. Unlike generic network switches that use common, low-cost clocks, the SS-1’s high-precision clock system minimizes jitter and timing errors as data packets move through the device. This superior timing accuracy ensures that the data stream sent to your audio player is more stable and coherent, resulting in a more focused soundstage and natural musical reproduction.

Optimized for Audio Streaming

The SS-1 is intelligently designed for Hi-Fi setups. It includes two dedicated 100Mbps ports that are perfectly suited for the bandwidth needs of audio streamers, reducing the potential for bit errors that can occur on higher-speed ports. It also provides four 2.5Gbps ports for other devices like a Roon Core or NAS drive. Every port is individually shielded and spaced widely to accommodate premium audio-grade network cables, preventing interference and ensuring a secure connection.

A Clear Path to Upgrade

The Matrix Audio SS-1 is designed to grow with your system. It is powered by a high-quality, wide-voltage internal switching power supply that delivers reliable performance. For the audiophile seeking the next level of refinement, the SS-1 includes a DC input port, allowing you to connect an external linear power supply. Bypassing the internal supply with a dedicated LPS can further lower the noise floor and enhance the overall transparency and dynamic expression of your system.

SS-1 vs. SS-1 PRO: Which Is Right for Your System?

Both switches share the same core architecture: femtosecond clocking, dual 10Gbps SFP+ optical isolation, and dedicated audio-grade 100Mbps ports. The SS-1 PRO adds a built-in linear power supply, a 10MHz external clock input, and two additional high-speed ports for systems that need room to grow.

<div style="border-radius: 12px;
