Perlisten Technology

At the heart of the S4s is the DPC (Directivity Pattern Control) Array, a precision-engineered driver system designed to deliver unmatched control of directivity and timbre consistency. The same array used across all S-Series speakers ensures a seamless surround experience, whether in two-channel or immersive multichannel setups.

Beryllium Tweeter

Covering the widest bandwidth in the S4s, the 28mm Beryllium dome tweeter offers unmatched speed and damping. It reproduces the highest frequencies with clarity and without the harsh breakup modes common in lesser materials. You get accuracy, transparency, and the ability to render even the most delicate high-frequency details.

TPCD Carbon Fiber Midranges

Flanking the tweeter are two 28mm TPCD domes. These ultra-lightweight diaphragms use TexTreme carbon fiber, whose weave distributes break-up modes without sharp peaks in the response. This design allows for lower crossover points, reduced distortion, and lightning-fast transient response.

Waveguide Lens

The DPC Array is nested within a sculpted waveguide that controls early reflections and sound power. This ensures even dispersion across the listening area, improving vocal clarity, spatial imaging, and tonal balance regardless of seat location.

TPCD Carbon Fiber Bass

The S4s delivers real bass authority in a surprisingly shallow cabinet. Its 180mm Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm woofer leverages the same woven carbon fiber tech found in Perlisten’s larger floorstanders. The result is fast, extended low end, reaching down to 33Hz in-room.

TPCD is 30% lighter than standard carbon fiber of the same thickness, with added strength from stacking multiple layers. The unique layering of this material suppresses breakup modes and eliminates the resonant peaks that plague conventional woofers. It’s why the S4s can play deep, clean, and loud, while maintaining perfect cohesion with the mids and highs.

Built for Theater Obsession

The S4s may be shallow in depth, but it is deep in engineering. From its 50mm thick front baffle and dual internal braces to the 1/8-inch thermoacoustic damping throughout the cabinet, every element is designed for sonic integrity and mechanical silence. Details like recessed terminals and optional flush-mount kits make installation as elegant as the performance.

Build a Timbre-Matched S-Series System

The S4s is built for surround and rear duty, voiced with the same S-Series DPC-Array as the towers and center so it stays timbre-matched as effects move around the room. It is one piece of a larger theater, so build out the rest:

• Put S7t or S5t towers up front, anchored by the S7c or S5c center.

Architectural Options

Going fully in-wall? The S-Series architectural models keep the same voicing out of sight, front to back:

• Build an in-wall front stage with the S5i-LR L/R speakers and an S5i-C center, or step up to the S7i-LR and S7i-C for a reference room.
• Add the S4i-LCRS for in-wall surrounds.
• Finish with S3ic in-ceiling speakers for overhead Atmos height channels.

Perlisten Subwoofers

Surrounds set the scene, but a Perlisten subwoofer delivers the low-frequency impact underneath it all. Any of the Perlisten subs integrate with an S-Series system, and we take 5% off when you run a pair. Find the right one on the Perlisten subwoofer collection page. If you're interested in a speaker and sub system from Perlisten, the simplest way is to start your order, tell us the full system you have in mind, and Mike will put together a personal quote.
