Rega Nd3 Moving Magnet Cartridge

The Rega Nd3 is a groundbreaking moving magnet cartridge that represents a new level of performance in its class. Developed over a decade, it is the first moving magnet cartridge to utilize ultra-high-powered Neodymium (Nd) N55 magnets, which were previously reserved for high-end moving coil designs. This innovation allows for a unique generator geometry with perfect symmetry, resulting in highly accurate channel balance, superior linearity, and a significantly wider soundstage.

Each Nd3 is meticulously hand-made by Rega's skilled technicians and features a lightweight, highly rigid, injection-molded PPS (polyphenylene sulphide) body. The cartridge's design, inspired by Rega's successful moving coil range, focuses on reducing mass and stress on tonearm bearings to ensure critical free movement for accurate vinyl playback. It is offered as a factory-fitted option on the Planar 2 and Planar 3 turntables, but its standard 3-point mounting system makes it compatible with many other tonearms.

Key Features

• Neodymium Magnet Technology: The use of ultra-high-powered Neodymium magnets (N55 grade) provides enhanced power, allowing for a unique, low-inductance, low-impedance generator with improved high-frequency response.
• Precision-Engineered Generator: Brand new generator geometry with perfect symmetry ensures accurate channel balance and linearity for a wide, detailed soundstage.
• Rigid and Lightweight Body: The lightweight, glass-filled PPS body reduces stress on the tonearm bearings, aiding in accurate tracking and sound reproduction.
• Bonded Elliptical Stylus: A bonded elliptical profile stylus on an aluminum cantilever provides exceptional tracking accuracy and extracts a high level of detail from the record groove.
• Hand-made in England: Each cartridge is meticulously hand-made by Rega's highly skilled technicians, ensuring a high standard of quality.
• Rega 3-Point Mounting System: Simplifies installation and ensures perfect alignment when used with a Rega tonearm.

A Foundation of Pure Performance

The Nd3 is a testament to Rega's commitment to pushing the boundaries of moving magnet technology. By incorporating design philosophies and materials typically found in much more expensive moving coil cartridges, such as the use of Neodymium magnets and a new generator geometry, the Nd3 delivers a level of musicality and detail that is truly next-level for its price point. It offers an engaging, dynamic, and refined sound with a strong sense of rhythm and an authoritative presentation.

The Perfect Upgrade for Your Turntable

The Nd3 is the perfect choice for anyone looking to significantly upgrade their vinyl playback experience. It breathes new life into a record collection by revealing previously unheard details and presenting a more expansive and three-dimensional soundstage. Its forgiving nature and ease of setup, especially on Rega turntables, make it an ideal upgrade for both new and experienced vinyl enthusiasts. The Nd3's performance challenges the traditional hierarchy between moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, making it an exceptional value.

Rega's Three-Point Fixing

Rega cartridges use the company's proprietary three-point fixing rather than the universal two-bolt mount. On a Rega tonearm that makes fitting a direct bolt-on job, with overhang set automatically by the mount itself instead of by protractor. It is the reason a Rega cartridge is the simplest upgrade path for a Rega turntable. A universal-mount cartridge, Hana included, goes on any arm but has to be aligned the long way round.
