Mike's $4,500 HiFi System

This $4,500 system is built for the listener who wants serious sound with modern streaming convenience. The Primare I15 Prisma MK2 drives a pair of Acoustic Energy AE1 40th Anniversary monitors, connected by VIABLUE SC-2 Silver Series cables. Every component was chosen for how well it works with the others.

Core System Components

These components form the heart of the system and are included by default with bundle savings.

• Primare I15 Prisma MK2 streaming integrated amplifier
• Acoustic Energy AE1 40th Anniversary speakers (pair)
• VIABLUE SC-2 Silver Series speaker cables (2.5m pair)

System Overview

The AE1 40th Anniversary is what happens when a British loudspeaker company spends forty years refining one design. It's a compact standmount that images like a much larger speaker and reveals detail in recordings you thought you already knew. These are serious monitors that reward quality amplification.

The Primare I15 Prisma MK2 is exactly the kind of amplifier the AE1s want. Clean power, refined musicality, and a tonal balance that brings out the best in demanding speakers without ever sounding clinical.

VIABLUE SC-2 cables complete the system cleanly, staying out of the way and letting the amp and speakers do their thing.

Amplification & Streaming: Primare I15 Prisma MK2

The I15 Prisma MK2 replaces a separate streamer, DAC, preamp, and power amp in one clean Scandinavian chassis. It sounds like an audiophile product but has features that make the whole family happy.

• Roon Ready for serious listeners, AirPlay for everyone else in the house
• Volume limits so your family can use the system without worry
• Clean Class D power with the musical refinement demanding speakers need
• Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Chromecast, Bluetooth, and HDMI ARC from the TV

As Mike puts it: "Prisma is great because you can do super simple Apple AirPlay streaming with volume control from your phone, all the way up to true high resolution through Roon."

Speakers: Acoustic Energy AE1 40th Anniversary

The AE1 40th Anniversary is a reference-grade compact monitor that punches far above its size.

• Precise imaging and clarity from a compact standmount design
• Handles classical detail and rock dynamics with equal authority
• Rewards quality amplification, which is exactly why the Primare pairs so well
• Available in High Gloss Black or High Gloss Walnut

Cabling: VIABLUE SC-2 Silver Series

The VIABLUE SC-2 is the right cable for this system. Hand-assembled in Germany with a hybrid strand design that stays neutral and transparent. It connects the Primare to the AE1s without adding its own opinion to the music.

• Standard 2.5m pair included, other lengths available on request
• Gold-plated banana plug terminations

Optional: Rega Planar 2 Turntable + Rega Fono MM MK5 Phono Stage

The Primare I15 does not have a built-in phono stage, so vinyl playback needs both a turntable and an external phono preamp. The Rega Planar 2 and Rega Fono MM MK5 are a proven combination that integrates smoothly with the rest of the system.

• Rega Planar 2 with factory-fitted cartridge, ready to play
• Fono MM MK5 provides clean RIAA equalization into the I15's analog input
• Both covered in the US through The Sound Organisation, Rega's US distributor: three years, with one year on the fitted cartridge

Optional: Dual REL T/5x Subwoofers

The AE1 monitors handle bass impressively for their size, but a pair of REL T/5x subwoofers fills in the bottom octave without overwhelming the speakers' character. Dual subs provide even bass distribution and eliminate the localization issues of a single sub.

• Adds depth and foundation without muddying the midrange
• Natural integration with compact monitors
• High Level connection recommended for best blending

Why This System Exists

This system is for the listener who values clarity, imaging, and detail but also wants something the whole household can enjoy. The Primare streams everything, the AE1s reveal everything, and the VIABLUE cables stay out of the way. No rabbit holes, no complexity.

Turn it on and listen.
